Your unsightly leg veins are threatening your dream beach holidays because you are embarrassed to wear shorts, skirts or simply go to the beach
and so you keep wearing thighs even in 30-degrees sunny days
It’s time to sort this problem out. Stop letting your leg veins dictate what you wear or how you enjoy your outdoor activities.
YOUR PROBLEM, CONFIDENTLY SORTED!
What you don't want?
You are sick of your leg veins influencing the type of outfits you’d love to wear. You don’t want to spend another spring and summer in long tights while everyone else is comfortable in shorts. You don’t want those purple spider veins on your face making you feel older than you are. And you absolutely don’t want to hear “it’s just cosmetic” from your GP or another medical professional when these veins are genuinely affecting your quality of life and potentially your health.
What you want?
You want to wear what you like, when you like, without constantly thinking about whether your legs look acceptable. You want a medical professional who understands that this isn’t “just cosmetic”, that listens to you and takes your concerns seriously, and who can quickly and safely fix the problem.
What you get?
Expert vein treatment from a consultant surgeon who’s been successfully treating vein conditions for over 20 years. You’ll receive personalised care in a comfortable and discreet clinical setting where your concerns, whether cosmetic or health in nature, are taken seriously. Mr. Arturo Almeida will thoroughly assess your veins, explain exactly what’s causing them, and will give you honest advice of which treatment option will suit best for your vein problem. Sharing with you the true facts and not lying about the outcome of your vein treatments. And of course, delivering the treatment of your choice in a very professional and efficient way. The result:you’ll get your confidence back and the freedom to live your life without constantly planning around your leg veins.
“Many patients come to me frustrated because they’ve been told their vein problems are “just cosmetic” or because they were promised complete “erasing” of their veins in just one session, just to find out that was not the case. My commitment is to listen to you, to understand how your vein problem may be affecting your wellbeing and to provide honest advice about your different options. Thread and bulging veins are commonly the first symptom of health problems affecting the health of your legs. You don´t have to live with this problem.”
- Mr. Arturo Almeida
“I had vein treatments since I was young at different clinics and with different doctors, so I was very familiar with these procedures. When I first met Mr. Almeida, I was very impressed with his unique way of explaining everything using a very easy to understand language, which was never the case before. He made the procedure virtually painless and the results were fantastic. I can’t recommend him enough!!”

What are "Vein Problems"?
Let’s clear up the confusion. Vein problems range from tiny thread veins (spider veins) that are mainly purely cosmetic, to large varicose veins that can become a serious health issue if left untreated. The important thing to understand is that visible veins are often just the tip of the iceberg, as they are often the first sign of a condition called “chronic venous insufficiency” – that, if left untreated, can evolve to ugly leg ulcers (open wounds that take very long to heal). That per se is enough reason to take care of them.
In the following video, Dr. Arturo Almeida explains the different types of vein problems and why early treatment matters:
UNDERSTANDING YOUR VEIN PROBLEMS:
A simple guide
Thread Veins / Spider Veins
Those fine red, blue, or purple lines that look like spider webs
What they are: Small, damaged blood vessels close to the skin surface. They’re like tiny broken capillaries that have lost their ability to close properly, so blood shows through your skin.
On legs: Often the first sign of circulation problems. What looks “just cosmetic” may indicate deeper vein issues.
On face: Usually around the nose and cheeks. Can be related to sun damage, rosacea, or just genetic tendency.
How we treat them: Microsclerotherapy (tiny injections) or Thermavein™ (advanced thermocoagulation). For face veins, Thermavein™ is usually best, as it’s precise and results are immediate.
Reticular Veins
Those blue-green veins just under the skin that feed the spider veins
What they are: Medium-sized veins that have become dilated and are feeding the spider veins you can see. Think of them as the “main pipeline” that’s causing the smaller problem veins.
Why they matter: Treating spider veins without treating reticular veins is like painting over rust – the problem comes back. This is why many laser treatments fail.
How we treat them: Foam sclerotherapy – a special foam that spreads through the vein more effectively than liquid injections.
Varicose Veins
Those bulging, twisted veins that stick out from your legs
What they are: Large veins that have lost their ability to pump blood back up to your heart efficiently. The blood pools, causing the vein to stretch and bulge.
Why they develop: Usually due to faulty valves in your main leg veins (saphenous veins). These act like one-way doors that should stop blood flowing backwards.
Health implications: Not just cosmetic. Can lead to aching, swelling, skin changes, and in severe cases, leg ulcers.
How we treat them: Foam sclerotherapy for most cases. For severe cases, may need referral for endovenous ablation with laser or radiofrequency (RF) or in few cases, surgery
Facial Thread Veins
Those fine red lines around your nose and cheeks
What they are: Broken capillaries on your face, often related to sun damage, rosacea, or genetics.
Common locations: Around the nose (often called “broken veins”), on cheeks, sometimes around eyes.
How we treat them: Thermavein™ thermocoagulation – the most effective treatment for facial veins. Results are immediate, it’s virtually pain-free, and usually only needs one session.
Why Compression Matters
For leg vein treatments, compression stockings are essential – not optional. This is a fundamental principle of vein treatments, and something that a lot of patients and practitioners alike get wrong. Without adequate compression vein treatments will fail, and for this reason, we will not treat patients that don’t commit to this.
Compression helps to:
Achieve better results
Compression helps the sclerotherapy work more effectively
To promote a faster healing
Keeps treated veins closed while they seal permanently
Prevent complications
Reduces risk of blood clots and inflammation
Long-term success
Improves circulation to prevent new veins forming
“Many patients come to me frustrated because they’ve been told their vein problems are “just cosmetic” or because they were promised complete “erasing” of their veins in just one session, just to find out that was not the case. My commitment is to listen to you, to understand how your vein problem may be affecting your wellbeing and to provide honest advice about your different options. Thread and bulging veins are commonly the first symptom of health problems affecting the health of your legs. You don´t have to live with this problem.”
- Mr. Arturo Almeida
“I was so embarrassed about the thread veins on my face, especially around my nose. I’d tried everything to cover them with makeup. Mr. Almeida used Thermavein and I watched the veins literally disappear as he treated them. No pain, no downtime, and the results were instant. I couldn’t believe how simple it was after years of feeling self-conscious.”

“I’ve seen too many patients who’ve been made to feel their vein concerns aren’t valid because they’re “cosmetic”. That is simply wrong as unsightly veins do affect the confidence of many women. But unfortunately, as the NHS has stopped offering treatment for non-life threatening, vein conditions they prefer to dismiss your concerns with such “cosmetic” labels. “
- Mr. Arturo Almeida
“When I first met Dr. Almeida in his clinic, I was in agony, and literally I couldn’t keep myself standing up for long due to my varicose vein problem. On the first consultation he performed a full assessment of my legs and explained everything to me in detail and told me that surgery could be avoided with this foam treatment. After the second session my pain had disappeared and I could take a nice shower without any pain for the first time in many years! I am so grateful I found him and from now on, nobody else will treat my legs. Thank you, Dr. Almeida“

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my veins come back?
Unfortunately, we don’t “cure” the problem that causes the vein problem in the first place, as this is related,in many cases, with genetics, lifestyle, or hormonal changes. This means your veins may come back, or more likely, new veins may appear at the same or other locations. This is why follow up is so important.
Will my veins disappear immediately as I’ve seen in social media?
Veins are seen because the blood flows within them, so when no blood is present, no vein is seen. When a solution is injected, this flushes away the blood inside the vein and seems like the vein is miraculously gone. That’s what social media videos will show. But what they don’t show is that after a few seconds, the blood will re enter the vein and the vein will be visible again. When we do sclerotherapy, veins will shut down after a number of sessions, by a process triggered by the injected solution called “sclerosis”.
Does it hurt?
Facial Thermavein™ is virtually pain-free. Leg sclerotherapy: Although an injectable treatment, it is delivered using a very tiny needle, so in many cases you will only feel a small sharp prick, and sometimes, not even that. When the sclerosant solution is injected, you may feel a bit of a stingy sensation, but that’s all.
Do I need to wear compression stockings after my treatment?
Absolutely yes!. Compression stockings are a critical part of the treatment of leg veins. With compression, the vein remains occluded and by doing so, the sclerosis process is facilitated. Compression stockings also prevent the blood from entering the vein and minimises the possibility of post treatment hyperpigmentation. And improves the overall blood flow in your legs. So for all these reasons, yes, compression stockings are definitely indicated if you want to achieve good results.
